Frequently asked questions

How does the scoring work?

Every correct answer adds one to your score. Calling a repeat "new" or a new word "seen" costs a life; three mistakes ends the run. The word pool is large enough that guessing "new" forever stops working fast.

What does this actually test?

Recognition memory: your ability to tag items as familiar. It is different from recall (reproducing the item), which is why scores here run far higher than digit-span tests.

What is a good score?

Runs of 30 to 60 are typical; past 100 you are in strong territory. Scores climb with focus more than talent, one lapse of attention usually ends a run.
